What do we mean by loose/individual photos
Loose/individual photos are photos held in wallets or in a stack or in bundles which have been removed from albums and photo farmes.
What size of photos can you scan
3" x 3" up to A4 size
What photos are restricted
The photos that we are unable to scan are,
- Photos in albums or in frames
- Photos outwith our size requirements
- Photos that could break our equipment (eg) sticky have staples, sellotape or blue tack
- Photos that are mounted
- Thick or laminated photos.
- Please do not write on the back of your photos as fresh ink can ruin our scanners, we will not scan any photos that have recent pen, pencil or ink on them.
- We reserve the right to not scan photos that could harm our equipment or do not conform to our size requirements.
Can we scan odd shaped or cutout photos
No - sorry we cannot scan odd shaped photos only rectangular or square, however photos with rounded corners are fine.
Do you scan photo albums
Sorry we do not offer this service at the moment to scan albums or mounted/framed photos
Can you scan Polariod photos
yes we offer this service as standard, however some thicker photos jam in our scanners.
Do you scan negatives and slides
Sorry not at the moment.
How should I package my photos
Use a cardboard box and make sure it is strong enough for the contents. Do not use plastic containers as they tend to break, a sturdy cardboard box absorbs impact far better.
- Put your photos into a sealed plastic bag and put the bag into the cardboard box (mark your return address is marked on the plastic bag) or put your cardboard box into a plastic mailing bag. (this will avoid any moisture damage).
- Fill the empty space in the cardboard box with bubble wrap, screwed up paper, or polystyrene chips, to prevent your originals from moving around during shipping. - Do not use shredded paper as cushioning material, as it is inherently dusty and only offers minimal protection.
- make sure to write a return address on the box and the bag.
- Include your order number or place a print-out of your order inside your cardboard box or envelope.
- Seal the box securely with tape along all openings and edges.
- Use a ‘FRAGILE’ sticker, if necessary.
- For small orders, use a board backed envelope or padded envolope.

At what resolution do you scan my old photos
We scan at 600 dpi as standard, includes the origional and the enhanced version. - this is great for prints up to A1 or A2 size, and still overkill for most peoples requirements, (e.g) photo frames or social media upload - web photos are compressed to 72dpi - you do not need 1200 dpi scans unless you intend to do billboard sized prints - However we do offer this service on request. It is generally excepted that 600dpi enables you to reprint your images 2x to 3x their origional size and will display on a tv or larger digital photo frame with fantastic quality.
What format are my digital images saved in
All images will be supplied in the JPEG format. - This is recognised as the industry standard as they render fast and are excepted on all digital photo frames. This format is also recommended for upload to all social media platforms, instagram, facebook, snapchat etc. This makes for easy sharing of ALL you images.
Do you enhance every photo
Yes this service is automatic and standard. - Every old photo we scan produces upto 3 images, the origional image, an enhanced image and if there is any markings on the back we record these as well.
Can you put my photos into folders
We do not do this as standard, however on request we can provide this service.
The cost is £1 per folder and is charged after the scanning process is completed.
An example of this is when you have "blackpool 1972", "spain 2002", "xmas party" , "mums 60th birthday" and you wish us to make folders up to "seperate your photos into folders"
Each Bundle must be contained within a suitable container (eg) envolope, photo pouch or plastic bag and clearly marked to allow us to name the folder correctly.
If a container is not marked we will simply number them.
- This service is on request ONLY, please leave a note on the order form with an estimate the approximate number of folders you require.
